The first Families Exploring Down Syndrome Mom's Night Out was held in 2006 at Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant in Clinton Township, where 12 women met in the "Pope's Room" for appetizers, desserts, drinks, and conversation.
Since then, the Mom's Nights have continued each month during the school year. We have tasted cuisine from around the world (Japanese, Chinese, Lebanese, Mexican, Bahaman, and Greek) and have also sampled wines, cheese, and CHOCOLATE. Talk at the Mom's Night Out, although not planned, tends to center on the kids, their development, antics, and accomplishments. Conversation is usually light and enjoyable, and updated photos are often passed around. To accommodate our members' varying schedules, we vary the nights of the week, as well as the week of the month, so everyone has the opportunity to participate.
We look forward to another great year of good food, good conversation, and good friends. Check the FEDS Calendar for the next Mom's Night Out, and make plans to join us. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome, as are girlfriends and grandmas. It is a nice way to meet other moms, share a smile and maybe even offer support to a newcomer.
